HMRC’s inheritance tax receipts in the month of June were £871 million, the highest ever recorded. Receipts for the April 2026 to July 2026 quarter were £3.2 billion. They were some £100 million higher than the same period last year.
Therefore, expect the amounts to increase further due to higher volumes of wealth transfers following recent liable deaths, rises in asset values, and the continued freezing of tax-free thresholds.
